HollandBIO welcomes NoPalm Ingredients as a new member
HollandBIO connects, represents and supports the Dutch life science sector. We are very proud that we already represent over 260 companies: from start-ups, small and medium-sized companies to large companies, active in health, food or biobased economy. Today we welcome NoPalm Ingredients! NoPalm Ingredients likes to address a word to the reader:
At NoPalm Ingredients we are on a mission to replace palm oil in the over 60% of products we use daily, present in everything from our food products to our cosmetics. Palm oil has serious environmental and human costs, from its harmful effects on deforestation, biodiversity and the C02 emissions associated with its production and trade. With our revolutionary microbial oil we provide an alternative ingredient to palm oil in food, cosmetics and detergents.
At NoPalm Ingredients we can achieve a significant reduction in C02 emissions by offering a sustainable, local, circular alternative. Our microbial oil is fermented through the use of side streams like leftover vegetable tops and potato peels. Not only does this reduce waste, our leftover biomass can be repurposed and put back into the value chain, creating a circular product that is better for the planet. As such, NoPalm stands out from competitors because we are using side streams, making ours a novel concept and more sustainable. By cultivating special strains of yeasts, we have developed our microbial oil with the ability to adapt the contents of the oil for different applications. Thus, NoPalm Ingredients can save the rainforest and its animals, cut down waste and C02 emissions and make a valuable product that can be widely used in many different applications.
NoPalm Ingredients was founded in 2021 and we are making rapid progress. In January, we raised our first round of 1 million and opened up our lab. In March NoPalm Ingredients was nominated for the final of the Rabobank Sustainability Award 2022! At YES!Delft our pitch got us nominated for the Floriade Expo 2022.
By April, our first 100L fermentation is already underway. Right now we are in the process of creating samples to send to some of our interested customers. We are looking forward to having our oil be certified as food grade within the year.
We are also getting ready for our next funding round that we plan to start end of this year. We are already speaking to some exciting potential investors to join.
Come and meet us at exciting upcoming events! May 12-13th we will attend the FoodHack Summit in Switzerland and on May 18th we will at F&A Next in Wageningen. May 19th we have the finals of the Rabo Duurzame Innovatieprijs and later this year we will have a booth at Food Ingredients Europe in Paris.
