HollandBIO welcomes Leyden Labs
HollandBIO connects, represents, and supports the Dutch life science sector. We are very proud that we already represent over 250 companies: from start-ups, small and medium-sized companies to large companies, active in health, food or biobased economy. Today we welcome Leyden Labs! Leyden Labs is using its platform to target commonalities of viruses to develop product candidates that may provide people the freedom to protect themselves against known and unknown respiratory viruses.
“Our mission is to free humanity from the burden of respiratory viruses. We hope to achieve this by developing easy-to-use nasal sprays targeting many strains of viruses in a single product that can be self-administered anywhere at any time. Each nasal spray in development attacks viruses where they attack us, in our nose, to provide immediate protection against infection and transmission.”
Data from past pandemics suggest that as many as 1.67 million unknown viruses may exist and roughly 827,000 may be able to infect humans. Despite the potential impact of viral threats, the world is unable to predict which virus will emerge when or where. To protect people against these threats, Leyden Labs is taking a different, proactive approach that can protect against entire virus families at once instead of particular (known) variants like most vaccines do.
Currently, our energetic team is working to develop prophylactic nasal sprays that target respiratory viruses that are most likely to cause or that have caused pandemics, such as coronavirus and influenza. We hope that we are able to avoid the invasiveness of future viral outbreaks and help people live their lives to the fullest.
