Van derden

15/10/25

The Steering Group on Prevention of Respiratory Infections is delighted to invite you to its annual event, on 15 October, in Brussels and online, from 14:30 CET..

This year, the Steering Group (supported by the Vaccines Europe Respi Task Force) will launch its new manifesto, calling for a new Council Recommendation on the value of immunisation against respiratory infections. Discussions will address the growing burden of influenza, COVID-19, RSV and pneumococcal disease across Europe and their impact on healthcare systems.

The event will be moderated by Nicola Bedlington and feature an outstanding line-up of speakers, including:

  • MEP Billy Kelleher (Renew Europe, Ireland) – Host
  • Dr. Colin Russell – Professor of Applied Evolutionary Biology, ESWI Chair & Co-Chair of the Steering Group
  • Stephen Donnelly – Former Irish Minister for Health
  • Rachael Thomas – RSV Patient Network
  • Dr. Marta Nunes – Director, Centre of Excellence in Respiratory Pathogens, Lyon
  • Dr. Louis Bont – Chair, ReSViNET Foundation
  • Anna van Renen – Research & Policy Officer, International Longevity Centre UK

…and more to be announced.

A personal patient testimony will shed light on the real-life impact of RSV. Speakers will also highlight the need for harmonised EU immunisation targets and integrated surveillance systems, drawing lessons from Ireland’s public health and immunisation policy.
