In\u00a0Kassa<\/a>\u00a0werd – hartverscheurend – duidelijk wat de consequenties zijn\u00a0van de keuzes die Nederland maakt in de\u00a0vergoeding\u00a0van nieuwe geneesmiddelen:\u00a0jonge moeder\u00a0Jolie staat met lege handen, terwijl er een nieuwe behandeling bestaat die haar meer tijd met haar zoontje kan bieden. Dat pati\u00ebnten in 26 Europese landen w\u00e9l toegang hebben tot diezelfde behandeling, maakt de situatie\u00a0amper uit te leggen. Waarom niet in een welvarend land als Nederland?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In gesprek met Kassa legt hoogleraar Gezondheidseconomie Xander Koolman helder uit dat Nederland een strenger toelatingsbeleid heeft voor nieuwe geneesmiddelen dan landen om ons heen, met vertraging en, steeds vaker, nee tot gevolg. Koolman: \u201cDe Nederlandse filosofie lijkt te zijn: als die andere landen nou die innovatie betalen, dan gaan wij het medicijn toekennen en gebruiken wanneer het goedkoper is.\u201d Kortom: Nederland wil voor een dubbeltje op de eerste rang zitten. Los van de vraag of een dergelijke strategie wel past voor een welvarend land dat prat gaat op zijn innovatiekracht, vraagt deze aanpak veel geduld en tijd van pati\u00ebnten \u2013 een luxe die Jolie, en de velen die net als zij wachten op een behandeling, niet heeft.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
