Als biotech ondernemer wil je bouwen aan oplossingen voor morgen. Maar helaas zetten verouderde EU-regels nu juist de rem op groei: ambitieuze biotech start- en scale-ups worden vaak onterecht gezien als \u201conderneming in moeilijkheden (OiM)\u201d en vallen daardoor buiten de boot voor cruciale publieke steun. Gelukkig werkt de Europese Commissie aan modernisering van deze knellende staatssteunregels via een\u00a0Public Consultation<\/a>\u00a0en\u00a0Call for Evidence<\/a>, waarvoor hollandbio uiteraard ook input heeft geleverd. Daarin pleiten we voor minder bureaucratische drempels, meer ruimte voor groei en een realistische OiM-toets die past bij de lange ontwikkeltrajecten en kapitaalbehoefte van biotech. Denk aan: verlenging van de vrijstellingsperiode voor deeptech, erkenning van R&D-investeringen als teken van ambitie (niet van nood), en het meetellen van intellectueel eigendom en recente kapitaalinjecties als eigen vermogen.
