Biotech holds unique potential to address today\u2019s most pressing challenges: helping us adapt to climate change, secure future-proof food systems, improve health, and strengthen Europe\u2019s strategic autonomy. Without biotech, the pressure on our healthcare, food supply, and environment will only increase, and we risk falling behind in a rapidly changing world. That\u2019s why it is good to see – and without surprise – that in its 2025 Strategic Foresight Report, the European Commission has\u00a0identified biotech as one of the breakthrough technologies set to shape Europe\u2019s next decades<\/strong><\/a>, alongside quantum, neurotechnology, and advanced materials. And luckily, this isn\u2019t just a signal: it also comes with serious backing. The Commission has also\u00a0confirmed it will mobilize \u20ac450 billion between 2025 and 2034 to strategic sectors like biotech<\/strong><\/a>, health, agriculture, and the bioeconomy. This long-term European Competitiveness Fund will offer a mix of grants, equity, and guarantees to support startups and scale-ups, aiming to boost European innovation, resilience, and industrial leadership, and to create a healthier, climate-friendly and more independent future for Europe.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
