In een recente <\/a>analyse<\/a> <\/strong>in opdracht van de Nationaal Co\u00f6rdinator Terrorismebestrijding en Veiligheid (NCTV) komen diverse risico\u2019s naar voren voor de nationale veiligheid, met daarin ook scenario\u2019s die biotechbedrijven nu al raken. Zo signaleren de onderzoekers een economische dreiging in het feit dat kennis en kunde van Nederlandse biotechbedrijven wegvloeien naar het buitenland. Ook hebben biotechbedrijven te maken met cyberdreiging, want de sector staat vaak in de belangstelling van buitenlandse mogendheden. Daarnaast zijn er dreigingen op het vlak van infectieziekten, waar biotechbedrijven juist hard aan oplossingen werken. Dat al deze risico\u2019s breed erkend worden, helpt HollandBIO om samen met de overheid het ecosysteem voor de life sciences sector verder te verbeteren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sluipmoordenaar<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Binnen infectieziekten onderscheiden de onderzoekers uiteenlopende risico\u2019s. Zo zijn er verschillende virussen die in Nederland of zelfs wereldwijd de veiligheid kan bedreigen (zie figuur 3 hieronder). Daarnaast is antibioticaresistentie (AMR) een sluipmoordenaar die we nauwlettend in de gaten moeten blijven houden, aldus de NCTV. HollandBIO ziet dat bedrijven daar hard aan werken, maar dat er ook veel meer nodig<\/strong><\/a> is dan alleen het monitoren van deze dreiging. Hoe gaan we ervoor zorgen dat ondernemers ook innovaties kunnen ontwikkelen die helpen aan het tegengaan, of liever zelfs nog voorkomen, van een nieuwe pandemie? In de themarapportage<\/a> is ook veel aandacht voor technologie die helpt in monitoring en detectie, zoals Whole Genome Sequencing en preventie en behandeling (vaccins, geneesmiddelen). Innovaties van biotechbedrijven zorgen dus voor onze nationale veiligheid. Die belangrijke boodschap zal HollandBIO natuurlijk blijven uitdragen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
