Daarmee maakt het biofarmaceutisch bedrijf gebruik van de groeiende lifesciencesregio in Nederland.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BMS investeert met de bouw van deze productiefaciliteit in de uitbreiding van het wereldwijde netwerk om celtherapie dichter bij de Europese pati\u00ebnt te brengen. Daarmee breidt de organisatie de capaciteit uit om pati\u00ebnten te behandelen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe zijn blij dat we onze aanwezigheid in Nederland hiermee laten groeien. Nederland biedt een innovatieve hub voor life sciences en beschikt over toptalent in de branche. We kijken uit naar de invulling van honderden vacatures in de komende jaren om daarmee de locatie vorm te geven\u201d, aldus V\u00e9ronique Walsh, M.D., General Manager BMS Benelux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CAR-T-celtherapie<br><\/strong><br><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAR-T staat voor &#8216;Chimere Antigeen Receptor T-cel&#8217;-therapie. T-cellen zijn afweercellen die kwaadaardige kankercellen kunnen aanvallen en uitschakelen. Bij kankerpati\u00ebnten worden eerst witte bloedcellen afgenomen. Die worden genetisch aangepast in het productiecentrum om vervolgens in gespecialiseerde academische centra bij de patient toe te dienen. Deze bewerking helpt om via lichaamseigen T-cellen hematologische kankersoorten te bestrijden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Life Sciences &amp; Health-ambassadeur Cl\u00e9mence Ross-van Dorp verwelkomt namens Nederland de komst van BMS: \u201cDit is niet alleen een mooie stap voor BMS, ook voor Nederland is dit belangrijk nieuws. Met deze start onderstreept BMS dat ons land een internationale koploper is op het gebied van CAR-T-celtherapie. Ons groeiende LSH-ecosysteem bloeit door de samenwerking tussen bedrijven als BMS, universiteiten, academische ziekenhuizen en de overheid. Door deze <em>connected<\/em> aanpak zorgen we er samen voor dat veel meer mensen de zorg krijgen die ze nodig hebben.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leiden Bio Science Park wordt de vijfde celtherapiefaciliteit van BMS wereldwijd en bovendien de eerste Europese faciliteit van de biofarmaceut. De vestiging gaat beschikken over de nieuwste technologie en productieapparatuur om celtherapie te ontwikkelen voor pati\u00ebnten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Momenteel wordt gewerkt aan het ontwerp en de ontwikkeling van de locatie in het Leiden Bio Science Park. De start van de bouw staat voor later dit jaar gepland en is naar verwachting eind 2024 gereed.
