Voor deze test is inmiddels het CE-IVD label aangevraagd en PathoFinder gaat de test leveren aan verschillende ziekenhuizen binnen en buiten Nederland.\u00a0PathoFinder verwacht enkele duizenden corona testen te gaan leveren in de komende weken.\u00a0<\/em><br><br>In december 2019 vond in de regio Wuhan in China een\u00a0uitbraak plaats van een nieuw coronavirus. Het virus is veroorzaker van de ziekte COVID-19. PathoFinder\u2019s bestaande RespiFinder 2SMART test, een paneltest om 22 verschillende bekende veroorzakers van luchtweginfecties aan te tonen heeft mede aan de wieg gestaan bij de ontdekking dat het hier om een nieuwe variant van het SARS-coronavirus ging.<br><br> De meeste pati\u00ebnten met dit virus hebben vaak koorts en luchtwegklachten zoals hoesten, verkoudheid, niezen of kortademigheid. In Nederland, maar ook wereldwijd, worden er maatregelen genomen om verdere verspreiding van het virus tegen te gaan.\u00a0Door middel van de corona test van PathoFinder kan een arts bepalen of een pati\u00ebnt een actieve infectie heeft met het virus.\u00a0In Nederland is het coronavirus inmiddels bij een toenemend aantal mensen aangetoond.\u00a0<br><br> De RealAccurate Quadruplex Corona-<em>plus<\/em>\u00a0PCR Kit, zoals de test van PathoFinder heet, is gebaseerd op de PCR-technologie waarmee in 2 uur accuraat kan worden vastgesteld \u00f3f er sprake is van een infectie met het nieuwe coronavirus. Bij verdachte pati\u00ebnten wordt een neusswab afgenomen en gecombineerd met de Corona-<em>plus<\/em>\u00a0test in het ziekenhuislaboratorium.
