De voorgestelde regelgeving biedt ruimte voor ontwikkelingen in\nde biotechnologie, doordat de beoordeling zich meer richt op het uiteindelijke\nproduct, dan op de gebruikte techniek. Planten verkregen met moderne veredelingsmethoden,\nmaar die ook verkregen hadden kunnen worden via klassieke veredelingsmethoden,\nzijn uitgezonderd van de regelgeving. Om ook de stakeholders bij de vernieuwde regelgeving\nte betrekken, ligt het voorstel nu twee maanden ter inzage voor het publiek. Voor\nHollandBIO is dit echt het droomscenario voor modernisering van het Europese biotech\nbeleid.
