VitroScan, developing tests to predict treatment outcome for\ncancer patients, has closed a round of seed funding for \u20ac800.000. Lead investor\nLibertatis Ergo Holding B.V. (LEH) will be welcomed as new board member. Pieter\nGeelen, TomTom founder and philanthropist, and co-founder of VitroScan also\nprovides a major part of the funds in this round. VitroScan will use the proceeds\nto deliver Proof of Concept for application of its unique technology for\ntreatment response prediction for cancer patients.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Suboptimal therapy responses for patients, unnecessary side\neffects, and high failure rates of clinical trials with cancer drugs, cause a\nhigh burden on the health care system. This emphasises the need for better\nselection of treatment for the individual patient, and more efficient drug\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
VitroScan\u2019s unique technology platform combines automated 3D\ncell culture with high content 3D imaging and analysis in a robust platform\nthat provides scalability without compromising precision of drug response\nanalysis. A clinical trial program has been initiated with leading cancer\nhospitals in The Netherlands to establish the value of the technology for drug\nresponse prediction in selected cancers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
