Het Amerikaanse biotech bedrijf Calyxt heeft bekendgemaakt dat zij Calyno lanceert, een sojaolie die gebruikt kan worden voor frituren, als saladedressing als ingredi\u00ebnt voor saus. Door een genetische aanpassing in de sojaboon, heeft de olie verschillende voordelen: zo kent het een hoog gehalte oliezuur, bevat het 20% minder verzadigde vetten dan \u2018normale\u2019 sojaolie en helemaal geen transvetten. Bovendien gaat de olie tot drie keer langer mee in de frituur en is de toepassing veel langer houdbaar dan gewone sojaolie. \u00a0<br> <br> Daarnaast maakte de FDA na jarenlang steggelen bekend dat de AquAdvantage zalm van AquaBounty Technologies goedkeuring ontvangt voor commerci\u00eble verkoop. Deze genetisch aangepaste zalm bereikt in de helft van de tijd het gewenste gewicht in vergelijking met \u2018gewone\u2019 zalm en heeft daarbij 25% minder voedsel nodig.
