In een Kamerbrief maakt de regering bekend dat Nederland zich actief blijft inzetten in Europa voor vrijstelling van de moderne veredelingstechnieken, zoals CRISPR-Cas, en de producten van deze technieken. Zo zal de Nederlandse regering op korte termijn de Europese Commissie vragen om gerichte aanpassing van de wetgeving voor genetische modificatie.<\/p>\n<p>Naast deze gerichte aanpassing wil Nederland voor de langere termijn verdere modernisering van het biotechnologiebeleid bespreekbaar maken in Europa. De uitspraak van het Europese Hof laat volgens het Kabinet duidelijk zien dat de huidige wetgeving voor genetische modificatie verouderd en niet toekomstbestendig is. HollandBIO is erg blij met deze reactie van het Kabinet en hoopt dat Nederland kiest voor een slimme aanpak in Europa, waarin zij optrekt met de groeiende groep medestanders op dit onderwerp.
