Amerikaanse supermarktschappen liggen.
Of we in

MyLife Technologies started a first-in-human study with its ceramic nanoporous MicroNeedle Arrays (npMNA) technology at Centre for Human Drug Research (CHDR) in Leiden (NL) today. npMNA patches loaded with a pharmaceutical peptide formulation are being tested in healthy volunteers
In many cases pharmaceutical peptides are
parenterally administered. Existing alternatives for peptide delivery are among
others intranasal sprays or subcutaneous implants. npMNA patch administration could
lead to reduced peak concentrations and modified drug release and should overcome
several of the drawbacks of the existing delivery routes: npMNA patches are
minimally invasive, pain-free and allow for self-administration. The drug
formulation is stored in the nanopores of the npMNA devices and diffuses into
the patient once the npMNA patches have been applied onto the skin. Drug
release rates from the nanopores can be tuned. This makes MyLife Technologies’
npMNA patches a versatile drug delivery system.
“We have entered an exciting new phase in the development of our npMNA technology”, says Pieter Jan Vos, CEO of MyLife Technologies, “We have found a valuable partner in CHDR, an experienced clinical CRO in the field of novel concepts and dermatology”.

First-in-class drugs through targeted stabilisation of protein complexes
During the Dutch Biotech Event where biotech companies of all sizes, from start-ups to scale-ups, meet and get inspired, the LifeSciences@Work Venture Challenge was annouced. This year’s winner of the Spring edition became AmbAgon. The Eindhoven-based start-up develops small-molecule therapeutics for breast cancer by augmenting the tumor-suppressing functions of the 14-3-3 protein.
According to the jury, led by Carine van den Brink, AmbAgon has a strong team that, with their unique combination of expertise, has discovered a new approach towards developing drugs for metastatic breast cancer. A ground breaking method that change the future of cancer patients and their therapy accurance.
AmbAgon has developed small molecule screening technologies focused on discovering molecules that stabilize the direct interaction of oncogenic transcription factors with so-called 14-3-3 proteins, thereby inhibiting their pathological activities. This approach, to augment the endogenous tumor-suppressing functions of 14-3-3 within different breast cancer types with small molecule drugs, provides for a radically new entry. A method that has been long sought for by the pharmaceutical industry and which is urgently needed in the clinic.
Luc Brunsveld, AmbAgon: “The Venture Challenge has been a fantastic learning experience for us. It brought us into contact with the Dutch biotech community. Winning this challenge is the absolute icing on the cake.”
The Venture Challenge Spring 2019 started in April this year and ended today at the Dutch Biotech Event, where AmbAgon takes home the €25.000 prize money to invest in their growth. The other highly-motivated participating teams were: MissionMS, MULTISCREENING, Praxa Sense, and UFO Biosciences. Participating in the Venture Challenge leads to a clear venture plan, as well as to investor-ready pitches. Today, the leading global business development database Biotechgate presents its 2019 trend report for the Dutch life sciences market. The annual trend report shows that the Netherlands is on track to become a world leading life sciences cluster in 2030.
The total number of biotech companies is growing
steadily to 470 in 2019. Oncology remains the most prominent therapeutic area,
followed by neurology and infectious diseases. With many ground-breaking
companies and world-class universities, the Netherlands is the perfect location
for biopharmaceutical innovation in Europe.
Over the years, the Netherlands evolved into a
fertile breeding ground for research and development. The number of products in
our clinical pipeline slightly increased compared to 2018. At the moment there
are 41 phase I, 49 phase II and 13 phase III studies in development. On top of
that, almost 100 products are investigated in a preclinical setting. These
numbers promise a bright future ahead.
HollandBIO’s managing director Annemiek Verkamman is happy to see the analysis confirms the leading position of the Dutch life sciences sector. “With top-notch scientists, outstanding research and education and great entrepreneurial spirit, we established our leading position in Europe. Add to that the recent relocation of the EMA, and it becomes clear that the Netherlands has what it takes to become one of the world’s top biotech clusters by 2030!”

Genmab announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of DARZALEX® (daratumumab) in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone (Rd) for the treatment of adult patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma who are ineligible for autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT).
The supplemental Biologics License Application (sBLA) for this indication was submitted by Genmab’s licensing partner, Janssen Biotech, Inc., under the Real-Time Oncology Review (RTOR) pilot program. In August 2012, Genmab granted Janssen Biotech, Inc. an exclusive worldwide license to develop, manufacture and commercialize daratumumab.
“The combination of lenalidomide and dexamethasone is broadly used by newly diagnosed patients with multiple myeloma ineligible for ASCT in the United States. We are extremely pleased that physicians can now offer their patients the option to add DARZALEX to this regimen in the U.S.,” said Jan van de Winkel, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Genmab.
The approval was based on data from the Phase III MAIA (MMY3008) study of daratumumab in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone as treatment for patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma, who are not candidates for high dose chemotherapy and ASCT. Data from this study was presented as a Late-Breaking Abstract at the 2018 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting in December 2018.

toepassing is.
aanwezig is.
